Walpole Public Schools Title I Program
The goal for the Title I program is to provide additional, supportive instruction to identified students in regular education programming. This instruction usually takes place in the regular classroom in very small groups, allowing for more individualized attention to the students. Instructional groups are regularly conducted during the school day in addition to the instruction by the classroom teacher.
Parents and Title I Instructors work closely together to support the curriculum both at home and at school. On a regular basis, Title I instructors send Home Involvement Packets that can provide helpful information for parents and several activities for the students to practice skills they have already learned. Each year, grade-level services for Title I are determined by a Needs Assessment Survey that is completed by parents, staff and administrators. The delivery of services is building-based and is determined at the beginning of each school year.
If you have any questions about this program please feel free to contact the Title I instructor for your school at the number listed below or Jean Kenney Ed.D., Assistant Superintendent at 508-660-7200x235. The Title I Program is a federally funded program which provides supplementary instruction in the areas of Language Arts (reading, writing, speaking and listening) and Math to selected students in grades K-3 (children may receive instruction in one or both areas) and for grades 7 & 8 for math only.
